BETTY ANNE

Betty Anne Nixon, MSN, RN, APN-C, CSN, FN-CSA, PMHNP-BC, EMDR-C, CIT, brings more than 33 years of nursing experience to her work, including over a decade dedicated to the evaluation and management of psychiatric mental health care for individuals, families, and groups. She completed her initial training in EMDR therapy in 2018, and it quickly became the cornerstone of her clinical approach. In 2022, she achieved EMDR certification and is currently pursuing credentialing as an EMDR therapy consultant.

Betty Anne is the owner of a private practice and a teaching and consultation business based in Central New Jersey. She specializes in working with adults experiencing trauma, treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, and PTSD. Viewing psychological distress through a trauma-informed lens, she integrates EMDR therapy with complementary modalities, including Internal Family Systems, to effectively address complex trauma and dissociation.

She earned her Master’s degree in School Nursing in 2009 and has more than 25 years of experience as a school nurse in both special education and psychiatric settings. In these roles, she served as a dedicated and effective advocate for her students and clients.

In 2008, Betty Anne obtained her Forensic Nurse–Certified Sexual Assault credential and went on to serve as a key member of the forensic team with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for seven years.

Betty Anne began her nursing career in 1993 and has since gained experience across a wide range of clinical settings, including medical-surgical units, postpartum and mother-baby care, community health and home care, and psychiatric treatment centers.

Her extensive and diverse professional background enriches her therapeutic work, allowing her to approach each client with a deeply individualized perspective. By drawing on both her professional expertise and lived experience, Betty Anne fosters a therapeutic environment that supports meaningful, lasting healing and change.

More About  Betty Anne & EMDR

SELF TALK MATTERS. Do you notice an inner voice that tells you that you are shameful, powerless, unsafe, or a failure? You are not alone—and these patterns can change. Through brain-based therapy, we can work together to gently reshape this self-talk and create space for a more supportive and compassionate inner experience.

TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK. This is a collaborative process. Therapy is something we do together, not something done to you. Meaningful change comes from the work we both engage in—within sessions and in your daily life—as we move toward reducing symptoms and helping you live more fully and authentically.

CONTROL & SAFETY. Transformational therapy is not about re-traumatization. You remain in the driver’s seat at all times, with full agency, choice, and control throughout the process. Every aspect of the session—what you share, how deeply you go, and how you navigate emotional discomfort—is guided by your readiness and preferences.

CONNECTION. Our work together will be warm, relational, and validating, while also gently honest and direct when needed. We cannot heal what we do not acknowledge; however, this does not mean revisiting every detail of painful experiences. Instead, we focus on safely accessing and processing aspects of distressing memories in a way that supports your nervous system.

PEACE OF MIND. The goal is not to erase the past, but to lessen its emotional intensity. Over time, memories may remain, but their charge can soften or resolve, allowing you to feel more grounded and at ease. While no outcome can be guaranteed, this process offers a meaningful opportunity to feel understood, supported, and more at home in your own body.
